My Daily Delight in the Lord

The cover has been redesigned and there is a new section at the beginning of the book entitled "Delighting Daily in the Lord." Before making our faith confessions, we must first understand HOW to delight in the Lord.

The new section covers the following topics:

·      Setting a Priority

·      Developing Intimacy with the Lord

·      Receiving an Impartation

·      Intimacy can be Blocked,

·      Removing the Blockages

The follow sections have been excerpted from the new edition of My Daily Delight in the Lord.

Delighting Daily in the Lord

To delight in someone is to take great pleasure in being in their presence.

It is a joy to Jesus when a person takes time to walk more intimately

            with Him.                                                             Oswald Chambers

When we come to the place of delighting in the Lord, we will come to the place of intimacy, the secret place.  It is a place where the child of God can live - a place that the world doesn't even know exists.

What a privilege it is that the Lord has invited us to dwell in His presence, a place of safety where we can learn to trust Him totally.

Developing Intimacy with the Lord

O, the fullness, the pleasure, the sheer excitement of knowing God here

           on earth.                                                                             Jim Elliott

Developing intimacy with the Lord begins with setting a priority to delight daily in Him.  Worship is the highest form of prayer.  Worship means to draw close with the intent to kiss.  As we make it a priority to worship him through prayer and fellowship in His presence, we begin to cultivate a relationship of intimacy.

But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.   John 4:23

How can I fulfill God's plan for my life?  How can I achieve this abundant life Jesus spoke about?  Have you ever had this thought?

The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.   John 10:10

For us to have this abundant life is not meant to be difficult.

Do you know this song?

Lord, I want to be more like you.  O' Lord, I want to be more like you,
I want to be a vessel you flow through; Lord I want to be more like you.

If we truly want to be more like Jesus, you want to be a vessel for His love and power to flow through and you want to have an abundant life; then you must be willing to say:

Lord not my will but yours be done.   I'll be what You want me to be, I'll do what You want me to do, and I'll go where You want me to go and I'll say what you want me to say.

Jesus said;    For I have not spoken on My own authority; but the Father who sent Me gave Me a command, what I should say and what I should speak.   John 12:49

We are to follow in His footsteps and they have been ordered of the Lord.

The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD, and He delights in his way.          Psalm 37:23
Surrender all to Him and delight in His way.

Pray for the inner strength to follow those orders.

That He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man.      Ephesians 3:16

God bless you as you surrender all in seeking this abundantly life and His divine plan.

It's one thing to set goals, but another thing to fulfill them.  At the first of every year many talk of setting a New Year's resolution.  At the same time, they chuckle at how the previous year's resolution was not fulfilled and so they are attempting to try again.

I'd like to share with you what I have found to be very successful in fulfilling my goals.

I first sit down quietly and seriously consider what I really want to accomplish.  Then I write down my goals in short phrases on a 3 x 5 card and put it near my Bible and daily devotional.  Some of these goals are small goals and a few are larger.  Something that might even take over a year to fulfill, but that's okay.

Each morning I look at the card and pray. "Lord what one thing can I do today towards fulfilling one of these goals?"

He then impresses upon my heart something that I can do that day towards one specific goal.  It might be that it will take 20 minutes of my time to do that one thing or it might take one hour.  Whatever it is, I discipline myself to put that time on my to-do list for that very day.  You must be disciplined to follow through.

It's step by step, but soon one by one a goal is fulfilled.  The next morning in my prayer time I look at my 3 x 5 card and check off the goal that was completed.  It gives me a great sense of accomplishment and inspires me to continue on.

Soon I have a second goal checked off.  Now the momentum begins to build.  I can now begin to see that even one of my larger goals could be fulfilled. I continue to take it one step at a time, but really zero in on what I want to accomplish.

One of my goals that I thought would take over a year to fulfill was accomplished in a little over 6 months.  That really inspired me!

When one or two of the goals are fulfilled, I add another one or two to the list.  This makes it a lifestyle and not just something I attempt to do the first of each year and then it fizzles out.

Give it a try; I believe you will be greatly encouraged.

God bless you in your endeavor.

Christmas can be a lonely time for many.   I once experienced such a time but the Lord showed me the way of escape.

It was 5 days before Christmas and the first time I was ever going to be alone.  Even though I was going to be alone, I didn't want to feel alone and sad.  I began praying, "Lord, show me something so I won't have to feel so alone on Christmas."

Each day I prayed and the morning of Christmas Eve the Lord showed me the answer.  I was reading my morning devotion and this sentence popped off the page at me.  "As long as there are people to be loved, you need never to feel alone."

Immediately I knew how to celebrate Christmas and not feel alone.  On Christmas morning I went to a near-by hospital and asked at the nurse's station if there were any patients that were alone and if I could visit them.   The nurse was surprised that I was there yet was pleased to direct me to a few patients that were not having any family visiting them and they were going to be alone.

The first was an elderly gentleman.  He was from out of town and too far for his family to travel each day.  He was so pleased to have company and someone to visit with.  Several times he asked why I was there.  I told him I didn't want him to be alone on Christmas Day.  Each time he gave me a big smile in return thanking me for spending time with him.

Next was a middle-aged lady.  She was a talker and simply needed someone to listen.  Like the elderly gentleman, she asked why I came.  When I told her I didn't want her to be alone on Christmas Day, tears filled her eyes and then asked the Lord to bless me for coming.

When I returned home, my heart was so full of joy and fulfillment that I could not have had a sad moment if I wanted it.  I just couldn't stop praising the Lord for giving me such a wonderful Christmas.

Always remember,

"As long as there are people to be loved, you need never to feel alone."

A Companion Along My Journey

Psalm 91:11 AMP  For He will give His angels [especial] charge over you to accompany and defend and preserve you in all your ways [of obedience and service].  The word accompany means "a companion on a journey."

I remember it well.  It was a summer evening in 1983.  I was living in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma while working at the City of Faith. A friend who lived in Claremont, Oklahoma, had invited me to come and spend the day with her on Saturday.

My plans were to go early in the morning and then return home late afternoon.  I didn't want to drive the distance after dark.  We were having such a good time, she asked me to stay a little longer and have supper.

It was now dark when I headed for home. The drive was a little over an hour and a half back to where I lived in Broken Arrow.  After coming through the toll road, I decided to get off the highway and take a short cut onto a country road which would save me about 20 minutes.

Once I got on the country road, I realized it was probably not the best decision as it was very dark and not a good road to be on when alone after dark.  As usual, I often talk to the Lord when I'm driving alone.  This was no exception.  "Lord, it is really dark on this road tonight!"  No more had these words left my mouth when a helicopter flew above my car.  The pilot turned on his spot light shining it on the road directly in front of my car.  He left the light on all the way to Broken Arrow guiding me along the way.  That pilot, probably my guardian angel, became the companion on my journey.  We came to the main road in Broken Arrow and off he went.

The Lord is so faithful in looking over His Word to perform it.  For He will give His angels [especial] charge over you to accompany and defend and preserve you in all your ways [of obedience and service].  Psalm 91:11 AMP.

He was faithful in sending a companion to accompany me on my journey.  He cares about every detail of our lives.

THE HOLY SPIRIT - A GIFT FROM GOD

Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit".   Acts 2:38

The gift of the Holy Spirit is probably the most misunderstood and neglected gift within the Body of Christ.  Church splits have even taken place because of a misunderstanding.  As a gift from God, the Holy Spirit is our Helper throughout our life here on the earth.  What a wonderful thing this is that after Jesus ascended into Heaven the Holy Spirit was given to be with us.  It is amazing how the Holy Spirit can speak to each individual specifically during a church service and say exactly what each individual needs to hear.

Jesus said, It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.     John 6:63

However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth.   John 16:13

The Holy Spirit brings life to the Holy written Word.  He shows us the truth and guides us in fulfilling God's plan and purpose for our life.

Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us.    Romans 8:26

It gives me great assurance that the Holy Spirit helps me when I pray.   Praying in the Spirit gets self out of the way and allows the Holy Spirit to pray exactly what is needed.

When I am weak I can build myself up when praying in the Spirit.  This strength enables me to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit.  Especially when His direction takes a turn I do not understand.  I never need to fear for the Holy Spirit will only and always guide me into truth and exactly where I need to be, spiritually, geo-graphically, physically and in every way.

But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God,   Jude 20-21

When the Holy Spirit builds me up it also helps me to stay in His love.  Not only in walking in love, but receiving His love daily.

Oh dearly beloved friends and partners, what a beautiful gift we have been given through the Holy Spirit.  Don't neglect this gift, but inter-act with the person of the Holy Spirit throughout each day. He is the revealer of truth and spiritual understanding.  He is our guide into truth.  To know and understand this truth, we must follow Him.  Let's stay connected to Truth.

Jesus Still Heals Today

Part 2

Receiving God's Word as medicine is like planting the seed of His Word into the soil of your heart and it will produce a harvest of healing into your body. Jesus still heals today for His Word will not return void.

So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.        Isaiah. 55:11

Years ago I lived in Nebraska and had a very nice garden.  The fact that the soil was so rich made it easy for the plants to grow and produce a great harvest.

Our bodies are good soil made in the image of God.

The seed of God's Word is intended to produce a harvest of healing.

The nature of the human body (the soil) is to receive the seed of God's Word as medicine.

Every seed produces after its own kind.

And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.                                                                                  Genesis 1:11

The Word has healing within itself to produce healing.

Good soil does not reject good seed and good seed does not reject good soil.

The WORD puts a demand on the body to respond to God's medicine to bring health to the body.

The nature of God is to heal.

The nature of the Word is to produce healing.

The nature of the human body is to receive healing.

The nature of the believer is to believe in the Word.
